Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, announcing the meeting, expressed hope that the results of the negotiations will make it clear how quickly and effectively both sides “will be able to move” in resolving issues.
Recall that on February 18, the first direct negotiations between the US and Russian delegations took place in Saudi Arabia, where the parties discussed Ukraine in particular. The meeting lasted almost five hours.
Media outlets reported that Russian and US delegations would hold a second round of talks in the Saudi capital on February 25. The meeting was announced by the US president. However, Russia later denied information about a new meeting with the Americans in Riyadh.
